A Culture of Ownership
For over 25 years, Sea-Land Chemical Company has been a 100% employee-owned company. We are a CertifiedEO company, 100% employee-owned, with an Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP). This means our entire team is invested in our success.
How does it work? Once eligible, Sea-Land contributes a percentage of your earnings into your stock account. In addition to the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) account, the company also contributes to other retirement accounts on behalf of the employee.
Why ESOP? Because when you’re an owner, success is personal, meaning we have high regard, and even higher standards for our company. We collaborate, we make thoughtful decisions quickly and we strive for outcomes that drive prosperity and performance.
Employee ownership is a win for everyone—it enhances culture, increases retention, supports succession planning and motivates suppliers to work with us. As employee-owners, we look out for the company by doing what is right for our customers, our business partners and ourselves.
A Culture of Giving Back
Sea-Land is demonstrably committed to giving back to the community in both time and funds. Our employees are proud members of several community organizations and we match cash donations made by our employees to qualified charitable organizations. We also provide every employee with eight hours of PTO allowing them to contribute their time to a community service organization.
To best utilize these hours and organize volunteer opportunities for employees, the ESOP Communications Committee created the Sea-Land Community Outstanding Outreach Program, or SCOOP. Since its founding in 2018, SCOOP has committed to coordinating quarterly volunteer Saturdays and organizing company-wide events designed to benefit the Greater Cleveland area.
Together, our employees have participated in volunteer opportunities with the Cleveland Foodbank, Cleveland Metroparks, Cleveland APL, Habitat for Humanity and more. We never miss the chance to rally together and do some good as a team.
